Okay, a bit more about the hotel situation...
I talked to Jess, and she's still working on the rooms. She may not know for a few weeks yet how it's going to work out.

What we need to know is among the people who are coming, how many want to be separate, how many people would like their own space, and roomate requests. If you guys could post it here, that'd be fantastic.

A week's notice?!

I know that there aren't many of us that still go to bolt, but they've just announced that they're shutting the site down:

here is the copy of the announcement that will be posted 'officially'.

Well, the time had come. We have decided that it is time to officially say good-bye to Bolt2. In the past few years Bolt Media has explored new ideas, and grown in a different direction. As we continue to move in this direction it has become necessary that we need to make some difficult choices.
One of which is the closure of Bolt2. Although we value our loyal members, we are clearly moving in a new direction and need to focus our energies there. We recognize that many of you have been on the site for up to 10 years, and would like to thank you for your support and for allowing us to be a part of your lives. We hope you are able to take the time to reflect on the people who you may have met through Bolt2 and maintain these friendships after the site is down.
Much like pulling off a band-aid, the closure will be short and hopefully not too painful. The site will officially close on Friday, April 6th at noon (eastern standard time). We recognize that this is fairly soon, but we are confident that you will have enough time to say your goodbyes.
Again, we would like to express our gratitude for your continued support of Bolt2. You have been a valuable part of our lives, and we hope to see you on Bolt in the future. If you have any questions please feel free to write to Help@boltinc.com

Truthfully, this sucks almost as much as TheSpark turning into OKCupid and becoming a matchmaker site.

If any of you know how we'd be able to change this community's name to reflect it, speak up. And get some of the older bolties from years ago to join in the fun. It doesn't have to be about the trip; hell, that was just what spurred it for me, as we'd all been talking so long.

Clarifying the date and some ideas on things to do...
For those of you that will be joining us in Denver, Memorial Day weekend is Friday, May 25 to Monday, May 28. This will help those of you who don't live in the states or don't feel like digging for your calendar.

I've scheduled my vacation for May 21-May 29, to give me time to spend with my family and to give you a slightly more flexible time frame. I'll likely get up there either the evening of the 21st or the morning of the 22, depending on how often I have to stop and rest. improvise_me, you need to let us know what the deadline will be for a headcount, since you're taking care of the accomodations. Give us a heads up when you know more.

Now, on to the fun bit. I grew up in Denver (partially, at least) and there are a lot of great things to do both in the city and in the surrounding areas. Even with taking a road trip nearly every weekend for the 10 years that I lived in CO, I still didn't see half the state. I'll tell you guys about the things I know, and if you find anything else that you'd like to do, give a shout.

-There's Rocky Mountain National Park, of course, along with the passes over the continental divide. Loveland Pass is the best of them, but I find that I have to be careful about going up there, as the altitude has a tendency to affect my ears.

- In Winter Park, there's an alpine slide. The price on that may be a bit steep for unlimited rides, but it is fun going hellbent for leather down a concrete hill on a sled with a lever and no restraining device.

- We could go up to Blackhawk and Central City for an evening and piss a small amount of our hard-earned cash away. It's fun to do, but the downside is that you absolutely have to be 21 to enter the casinos.

-Of course, there's the zoo and the museum of science and history. The museum of science and history is good, and they usually have kick-ass special exhibits there. I was lucky enough to see Body Worlds 2 when it went through last year. I'll get back to you on what exhibit they have this year. It may be well worth it to see.

If you have any other ideas, feel free to add them in the comments section, or create your own post.

Oh, good. Stacie's post worked.
And since it's more than just her and I here rattling around, it's time to make an update where more people can see it, since not everybody on her friendslist has access to my journal.

You guys probably know me better as CaptainObviousA. For those of you that are reading this and don't know already, the name is Adrienne. Since there's two of us (cloud45), you can go ahead and refer to me as Ad.

Formalities aside, it's time to elaborate on the plan, before pseudopunkcomes after me with an electric cattle prod.

Based on the feedback that I got in the first post, I've tentatively scheduled the gathering for Memorial Day weekend in Denver. It seemed to be the best time for everybody. I'm likely going to schedule the week before off, so that it's a bit flexible, and gives me time to drive there at my leisure from Fort Worth.

improvise_meis working on the arrangements for accomodations, and I'd really like your input on things you guys would like to do while we're there. And believe me, there are a lot of things to do in Colorado. This community is set up so that everybody can post. I did that intentionally. I want this trip to work out for all of us.

So what are you guys waiting for? I want information!

Greetings, welcome, and information...

Okay, so I'm actually going to follow through on the idea I proposed on my journal a week ago. I figured that it would be easier for all of us to talk about what to do about getting together if I created a community for that purpose.

I've set it up so that we could all post; that way we can all bring up ideas, and nobody gets left out. I don't want to just be the straw-boss and tell you guys everything minute-by-minute.

I still propose Denver, as it's now really central to us all, and I know a lot of fun things that we can do. So, here's what I need from you guys:

First order of business: I need you guys to tell me when the best time would be for this summer. My availability is still open for June and July, but if I'm going to be the main contact and criminal mastermind, I'll have to reserve the space in the request off folder within the next couple of months.

Don't get discouraged if we can't all meet. I'll try and pick the time that fits the best for the most people, and hopefully this'll be fun enough that we can make it a tradition, with each of us taking turns planning each year.

All right guys, fire away!
